An Old-Age College Building
An Old-Age College Building (1891)
Founded on June 10, 1891, by Maharaja Shivaji Rao Holkar, the college appointed Mr. E.C. Cholmondeley, an Oxford University graduate and Bar-at-law, as its first Principal. Initially affiliated with Calcutta University, it later moved to Allahabad University in 1904 and is currently affiliated with Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), an A++ NAAC-rated university in Indore.
This legendary journey of Holkar Science Institution had been due to the apostle of the dedication of 34 heads of the institution, who stewarded this institution with knowledge and value-based education. Today, under the able guidance of Principal Major Dr. Anamika Jain, the institution has scaled newer heights in all round development.
In its nascent years, the institution offered a diverse range of courses encompassing English Literature, Sanskrit, Persian, Logic, History, Political Economy, Mathematics, and Science. It aimed at the holistic development of students, many of whom played pivotal roles in the Indian freedom struggle.
The illustrious alumni of Holkar Science College have ascended to prestigious positions as Scientists, Educationists, Vice-Chancellors, Bureaucrats, Sports personalities, Journalists, freedom fighters, army officers, judges, ministers, and more, reflecting the institution's enduring legacy.
