01 — The Mahotsav
A nation remembers, a college celebrates
Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. The official journey began on 12th March 2021 from Sabarmati Ashram, marking the completion of 91 years of the Dandi March.
The celebration honours the countless freedom fighters who sacrificed everything for the nation's independence. Among the many names remembered are Ahilyabai Holkar and Rani Lakshmibai — women whose courage and leadership continue to inspire generations.
At Government Holkar Science College, the spirit of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was embraced with the same fervour that has defined the institution for over 134 years — through service, awareness and community participation.

An institution born of vision, shaped by freedom
Government Holkar (Model, Autonomous) Science College was founded by Maharaja Shivaji Rao Holkar in June 1891 — at a time when India was still decades away from independence.

An enduring connection: Established in 1891 by the Holkar dynasty, the college has been a witness to India's journey from colonial rule to independence. Its students and alumni carried the flame of freedom alongside the pursuit of science and learning.

How we celebrated
From cycling rallies to blood donation drives, the college community marked Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with activities that combined patriotism, service and sustainability.
Blood Donation Camp
Organised by the NCC, NSS units and Red Ribbon Club under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, in which 50 units of blood were donated to help those in need at Maharaja Yashwant Rao Hospital.
Tribute to Freedom Fighters
A solemn gathering honouring the sacrifices of those who fought for India's independence. Participants paid homage to the brave individuals whose contributions shaped the nation's destiny.
Historical Walk
Participants visited and passed by historical sites and monuments associated with the freedom struggle, gaining insights into India's rich history and the events that shaped independence.
Environmental Awareness
The cycle rally promoted eco-friendly transportation and raised awareness about environmental conservation, reflecting the values of sustainability that were important to many freedom fighters.
Community Participation
Students, citizens and enthusiasts from various backgrounds came together to honour the nation's heroes and celebrate their collective identity, fostering a sense of patriotism and unity.

March 2021 — The Journey Begins
Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is launched from Sabarmati Ashram, marking 91 years of the Dandi March. The nation embarks on 75 weeks of celebration.
August 2021 — Cycle Rally
Cadets from Holkar Science College organise a cycle rally from the campus to Rajwada, paying tribute to freedom fighters on Independence Day.
December 2021 — Blood Donation
Under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, a blood donation camp is held at Maharaja Yashwant Rao Hospital, with 50 units donated by volunteers.
August 2022 — 75th Independence Day
The college joins the nation in celebrating the 75th anniversary of India's independence, reflecting on the journey of progressive India and the glorious history of its people.
