Founded in 1891, the college is celebrating 125th year of its establishment. This year also happens to be the 75th year of the Quit India Movement. As per the instructions issued by the Department of Higher Education Govt. of M.P the college is commemorating this as the Yaad Karo Kurbani year. From the time of inception the college is known for its active contribution to freedom movement. A large number of students chose to fight for the freedom of India rather than to go for some lucrative career like Shri Nandedkar, Shri Shevde, Shri Sarvate, Shri G.L.Oza, Shri P D Sharma, Munni Gupta and many more. The college in known for its outstanding holistic education. It follows curriculum based on the guidelines issued by the UGC and it also follows the directives given by the Department of Higher Education Govt.of M.P. This helps to cover a diverse range of subject combinations. To achieve quality in higher education our college follows the guidelines issued by the Department of Higher Education M.P.in a booklet,῝Uchha Shiksha mein Gunvatta Prabandhan"(Quality management in higher education) where the emphasis is on Change, the keyword. The college is also adapting to changes taking place in academics and management. Today’s education requires the knowledge of not only the academic subjects but also training in terms of soft skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and communication proficiency. To achieve this the Vivekanand Career Guidance Cell is functional in the college which is constantly monitored by the local administration as well as the state Higher Education Department. The Placement Cell prepares the students to face the challenges posed by the recruitment companies. The college has spacious classrooms, modern laboratories, computers and a boy’s hostel. Along with these there are sports facilities available in the college. There is a cricket, football, hockey, volleyball, tennis, basketball, table- tennis, badminton ground and also indoor games facilities on the campus. There are two sports officers working in the Sports Department. There are two units (boys and girls) of NSS. These units have done commendable work. The college has separate NCC units for boys and girls. They are 1 MP girls battalion, and 2 boys units, namely 2, MP Armed Sqm., and 9 MP battalion. The cadets are achieving laurels for the college for the last so many years. The college also has a Personality Development Cell, which organizes a programme every month where well-known and renowned persons are invited who guide the students on personality development and moral values. The cell is constantly monitored by the Department of Higher Education, M.P. India has one of the highest cash to GDP ratio in the world. Moreover paper currency costs the country approximately a whooping amount of 21,000 Crores annually. It is high time that the dependence on cash should be reduced. Our college is the pioneer in this field as it had already started online fee deposit from the session 2014-2015. All the scholarships and other benefits for the students are transferred to their respective bank accounts. I congratulate all the faculty members, employees and students, who have achieved excellence and outstanding performance in the academic and research work during the previous academic sessions. Last year the NAAC Team visited the college. It was a treat to observe the teachers, employees and students working in unison. The NAAC team appreciated and applauded the excellent team work displayed by the college staff. I expect all the students to work hard and improve their performances in the future semesters, there by fulfilling the dreams and expectations of their parents and teachers. . I sincerely hope that the students will make the best use of the opportunities to become competent professionals, entrepreneurs, and last but not the least, great human beings. In the end I would like to conclude with Reinhold Niebuhr’s words, "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference῝.
