The Department of Biochemistry was established in the year 1968, July for Post Graduate Studies. It enjoys the reputation of being oldest of its kind in the state. The department offers B.Sc., M.Sc. M.Phil. and Ph.D. courses. It’s a PG department and research center with the distinction of having produced fourteen PhDs. till date. The department opened up for undergraduate studies in the year 2003, July. Department is equipped with latest gadgets, sophisticated instruments and a rich library. Biochemistry is mainly a research field and after post graduation the student have opportunity to join Ph.D. programme. After M.Sc. the students may find openings in pharmaceutical and food industries, bioinformatics, medical field etc.
